Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, candidates would be able to:
1- Differentiate between spelling alphabet and phonemes
2- Search for the pronunciation of any word in the dictionary, using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)
3- Recognize the features of the different sounds of the language, making use of that in predicting the correct pronunciation of any new word they encounter.
4- Divide the word into syllables and know which part of the word would be stressed according to word stress rules.
5- Use sentence stress rules and rhyme, as well as intonation, whether falling or rising.
6- Maintain a neutral international accent that is recognized by any English speaker, without using a heavy accent or dialect.
7- Distinguish between the different accents and dialects through pronunciation differences.
